Easter

So I'm really not a blogger but I do like putting pictures of my kids up. My uncle told me at our family reunion that he used to keep up with my blog. I told him I would be better about blogging that was a month ago and Easter was, wow has it really been five months? Anyway who are we kidding I am going to post this as March (oh I am not as late as I thought Easter was in April this year!) to just keep some order in my post every five months blog. I don't like to write but I do like reading and remembering what the kids said or how they have changed. Mine tend to change a lot from post to post. . .

I do remember that we had a wonderful Easter and Nana and Dado came to our church then we had an Easter feast of hamburgers and salsa. I did put some brie out just because I am fancy like that.

We learned a valuable lesson with these eggs. Don't put them in wet grass. It had rained and the dye was everywhere and all over the baskets and our hands, and the kids, but it was still so fun to dye them! Definitely a favorite memory of mine and I love doing it with the kids.

The Blue Jays

The Houston Astros had a youth baseball day and we got to go down on the field before the game.  The boys loved it and had a great time!  Jeremy and I had fun too, it was really neat to be on the field and to see just how big it is.  I asked Weston if he wanted to play baseball here when he grew up.  His response "No I'm going to be a storm trooper"  Hmmm. . .  he might have a better chance at professional baseball than his other career option.  

Weston played T-Ball for the first time and really enjoyed it.  There is something I have always liked about a boy in a baseball uniform.

His favorite positions to play were first base, pitcher and catcher.  I have a feeling it's because those are the positions with the most action when you are playing T-Ball.

We are definitely at the Monkey See, Monkey Do stage with Brooklyn.  Whatever she sees her Bubba do she is sure to follow.  I have found this can be good and bad.  Good because a lot of the time it's funny.  Bad when Weston burps and says excuse me followed by Brooklyn trying to burp and then saying "Mu ME!"  But still kind of funny.  She follows him everywhere and is always concerned about where he is.  They are really starting to play together well (most of the time).  

What a stinkin' cutie!!  We were getting out of the car for school and he asked why I kept looking at him.  I told him because he was SO stinking cute.  "Mommeee I am NOT stinky!"  But you are really cute, if I do say so myself.  

No matter what toys I get them the most entertainment comes from this $10.00 laundry basket.  Now if they could just fold and put away all the clothes. . . 

Collin and Meagan's Wedding

Weston and Brooklyn along with Parker and Madison got to be ring bearers and flower girl's in Collin and Meagan's wedding.  I have a ton of pictures but haven't gone through them all yet, I just wanted to get these up of Brooklyn.  Seeing Weston and Brooklyn holding hands walking down the aisle was the most  "Be still my heart" moment of my life so far.  

I'll have to someday tell the story of when we prayed over Meagan five minutes before we were all supposed to walk down the aisle my precious daughter let us all know that she had, had the ultimate diaper explosion.  To save her a little humiliation she was on antibiotics but I was thinking ARE YOU KIDDING ME???  You are in a very white dress and I am in a bridesmaid dress and neither one of us can have doody on our clothes. 

The Eyes have it!

Weston's new look.  He started to really complain about headaches especially when he was watching a movie or playing the wii.  This went on for nearly two months and when I talked to his occupational therapist about it she recommended we see a developmental opthamologist.  (The squiggly lines are there and I can't figure out how to spell that.) Turns out Weston needed glasses in the worst way.  When he first started the eye chart with letters and pictures he did great.  Then they covered his left eye and he did great.  When they covered his right eye he really started struggling.  He kept trying to peek around the cover on his eye so he could use his right eye to see.  It really broke my heart, I could see everything so easily and it was so sad for me to see him struggle with this.  He kept saying it looks all scribbly.  I just wasn't prepared to leave with glasses for my boy.  I am thankful that this was all it was.  Headaches in a little kid can be scary and I am glad that this was something we could fix.  He picked out some cool power ranger glasses and he was excited about it.  Because you know all the cool kids wear glasses.  

Basically his right eye is over compensating for his left eye, leaving his left eye weak.  He also has an astigmatism.  I wasn't sure how in the world we were going to keep glasses on Weston full time.  I already had bribe ideas and a reward system cooking up in my brain but we never had to go there.  He is doing great with them and I can think of just a hand full of times we had to tell him to go get his glasses.  He wants to wear them.  I must admit he looks pretty stinkin' cute!  Brooklyn loves to pull his glasses off so that creates a little bit of drama and she has had to go to her first time out because of it.  She was not a fan of being in trouble but I can't say it stopped her from trying to pull them off again and again.  

We went back Friday April 3 for a glasses check and it turns out his prescription wasn't quite strong enough.  Hopefully this new lens on order will help out even more.  

February

Brooklyn 20 Months

She is approaching talking much like she did walking.  I'm positive she can do it she will do it on occasion but doesn't really see the point.  Expect for when she is frustrated because we have no idea what ma. . . ma MA BA! is.   Definitely means something to her though.  She is getting a little more feisty the closer she gets to two but she is still such a sweet heart and snuggle bug.  She does say Bubbo, Mommy or more like Mammy, dohhie (doggie), bow, Daddy, fower (flower), dank do, here go, MINE, MINE, MINE and she says this repeatedly, she pretty much sounds like the seagulls on Finding Nemo.  Jue (juice), mow (more), no, nigh nigh.  I have no doubt that she understands everything we say and she uses signs and gestures to get exactly what she wants.  At least she doesn't have everyone in this family totally wrapped around her little finger!   

VALENTINES DAY!!

Jeremy and I headed to a Valentines dinner at Amy and Gary's house, it was such a blast!  We played the newlywed game had a fabulous dinner outside and really enjoyed the night.  The invitation said "wear something romantic" this is what I came up with!  He, he, he!  

Need a break?  We put the kids in the shower one Saturday morning and Jeremy and I got ready, got the house cleaned, made some phone calls, read the paper, checked email, hung out on facebook. . .  just kidding but we did get extra time to get ready that morning.  

and the kids loved it.  Weston is used to taking showers but this was Brooklyn's first and she was cracking up.  I think we'll bypass the water park this summer and just throw them in the shower!  

January Pictures

Weston had a blast playing basketball for the YMCA.  It was laid back and every boy got a chance to dribble down the court and shoot a basket.  Weston said he wanted to make 10 baskets this season and he definitely did!  I asked him what his favorite sport to play so far has been and he said karate.  This kind of cracked me up since he hasn't done karate.  Maybe it's something we should try.

Of course it would turn out that Brooklyn likes Weston's chair and he likes hers.  Usually she won't let him sit in it but this must have been a really good show!
